Which types of dents cannot be repaired with Paintless Dent Repair ?

A good rule of thumb in Paintless Dent Repair, if you see any visible paint damage (missing paint, deep scratches or cracks), that is a good indicator that the damage is beyond PDR. Unless it happens to be some small stone dents with little paint chips on a hood you can PDR it and then just dab some touch-up paint on the tiny paint chip remaining. If it is a more severe paint damage you are seeing, proper paint is required to prevent future corrosion.

Any dents that are very sharp or deeply creased, where the metal has been pushed in to the point of actually causing severe stretching are often beyond PDR. Again, if you aren’t certain, our professional assessments are complimentary.

It is important to then note, that it is not the size of the dent that matters at all, but the actual nature and/or location of the dent. For example, if it is dented right into an edge, it may not be 100% repairable, but maybe 90-95% repairable. If the dent has very limited access, the repair naturally suffers.

For someone who may be doing a lease return or sprucing up a vehicle for selling, 90-95% may be acceptable. After all, the less you spend on a vehicle to lease return it at an acceptable level is money in your pocket. Increasing the value of the vehicle for higher resale value pays for an affordable PDR repair up front.
